2030 Climate Emergency- next steps
Tony McNally writes, on behalf of Coventry & Warwickshire Climate Action Partnership (CWCAP):
Further to the Coventry City Climate Change Team facilitated meeting, with over 30 organisation it agreed the project attached which I submitted to the National Lottery Climate Action Fund on behalf of the formed Coventry & Warwickshire Climate Action Partnership. Ours was one of 620 that failed in the first round though having agree to seek to progress implementation our planning meeting of 18 March was overtaken by the lockdown.
I would now like to consult stakeholders about working together on this.
The core project is to create a major poster exhibition on the 2030 Climate Emergency to inform and engage the public including the City Councils proposed new Climate Change Strategy and complementing the Coventry City of Culture 2021 objectives. The posters could be displayed in some of the many city centre vacant shops as well as requesting the use of one to be used as a Climate Emergency One Stop Shop
Offering advice and support 6 days a week throughout 2021 leading to the COP 21 Glasgow and extend to 2030 subject to support.
We have already 30 posters focussed on solutions produced by Coventry University graphic art student and offering more in the autumn. We have 35 designed by some of the CWCAP team and currently we have 8 Warwick University Global Sustainability Cross Faculty on line placement students working on more. We will also seek agreement to turn the power point slides of the presentation to the 26 October conference and afternoon workshop on Coventry’s Green New Deal Manifesto.
Consultation is now progressing with a few potential sponsors and after lock down we expect a second round call from the Lottery £100 million fund.to 2030.
Please see below a proposed initial draft action programme for the autumn towards implementing the core project in the National Lottery project agreed 18/12/2019
