BP aims to be Net Zero by 2050
Bernard Looney, chief executive officer of BP, set an ambition on 12 February 2020 for this, the world’s sixth-largest oil and gas company, would aim to become a net zero company by 2050 or sooner by tackling “all the carbon we get out of the ground as well as all the greenhouse gases we emit from our operations”.
This will require the company to remove more than 400m tonnes of carbon emissions a year from its oil and gas business. He said he would set out the detail of how BP plans to meet the goals at an investor meeting in September.
