Coventry Plan to Add Solar Panels to City Council Roofs
On 7 April Councillor Jim O’Boyle submitted a proposal to the City Council Cabinet to add solar panels to the roofs of 39 public buildings at a cost of £1.26 million and thereby potentially saving over £900 thousand over the 25 year lifetime of the panels as well as eliminating four thousand tonnes of C02 emissions.
The City also plan to apply for a grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to cover half the cost of the installation, producing a return of 12% on the money invested.
