22 April is known (confusingly) both as Earth Day and as Mother Earth Day. Both of them demonstrate support for environmental protection.
Earth Day was first proposed in 1969 has been celebrated since 1970. Events are coordinated globally by the EarthDay.org in most countries of the world.
Mother Earth Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2009. It recognises the Earth and its ecosystems are our home and that it is necessary to promote harmony with nature and the Earth.
