Solar Schools Project
The Solar Schools project was run by 10:10 Climate Action from 2012 to 2016. They worked with 80 schools from Stockton-on-Tees to the Scilly Isles who used crowdfunding to raise £723,000 and install 2370 panels. That adds up to 3,894 tonnes of carbon dioxide saved over 25 years.
The project ended because the UK government changed the feed-in tariff rates and then finally scrapped the scheme altogether, making it no longer cost effective to install solar panels.
