Warwickshire brings together organisations and individuals working towards net zero
Warwickshire County Council has important lessons for local governments such as Coventry City Council on how to work together with their citizens on tackling the climate emergency and working towards net zero.
The have declared a climate emergency and created a website to support action on it: www.warwickshireclimateemergency.org.uk.
They inform people about ideas, funding and schemes to encourage people take action.
They list actions Warwickshire Council is taking to reduce its carbon footprint.
They publish stories about what local residents, businesses and community groups are taking steps to tackle climate change at a local level and explain how others can have their stories added to the site.
They invite citizens to submit articles to their blog on actions they are taking.
They organise events on climate change.
They ran the Young Green Shoots challenge which offered up to £2500 for a school or college.
They show the change in emissions of each district within the county over the past few years and a lot of other information about what the County Council is doing.
Will Coventry ever try to talk to its people in a similar way?
