Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and more intense right here in the UK, even in Coventry where we’ve experienced a tornado.
Dr. Camilla Audia from the University of Warwick and Dr. Chesney McOmber from Keene State College (USA) are exploring how individuals and families experience and respond to extreme weather. Their goal is to better understand public concerns and help local organisations, including Coventry City Council, improve planning and preparedness.
They invite residents to join one of two group discussions, depending on their age. They want people to share their experiences, concerns, and ideas about extreme weather such as flooding, heatwaves, cold snaps, high winds and drought.
This feedback can help shape how Coventry responds to the growing challenges of climate change.
Both sessions will be on Thursday 19 June 2025.
Session 1: (Ages 50+): 2.30pm-4.30pm
Session 2: (Ages 18-49): 5.30pm-7.30pm
Where: St Peter’s Church Hillfields, Charles St, Coventry CV1 5NP
To get involved, please email climatechange@coventry.gov.uk with your name and preferred session (Over 50s or 18–49).
