Coventry City Council: Air Quality briefing
Coventry City Council has joined with the FSB to provide small businesses with this information evening around the proposed Clean Air Zone
The event will take place at 16:45 – 18:30 on Thu, 27 June 2019 in Diamond Room 2 of Coventry Council House.
Coventry, like many towns and cities in the UK, faces the challenge of poor air quality in some areas of the city – particularly in areas with high levels of traffic. The City Council has been working closely with the Government’s Joint Air Quality Unit to develop a Local Air Quality Action Plan for NO2 to ensure that NO2 levels are reduced below the legal limit of 40ug/m3 in the shortest possible time.
The work on how best to resolve air quality in the city is still in progress following the Minister’s direction rejecting the Council’s preferred option.
The Council’s aim is to identify a package of measures that improve air quality as quickly as possible whilst minimising the impact on the local economy and businesses, preferably without introducing a charging zone.
