As a result of the solar mapping of large, south-facing flat roofs, car parks and other spaces, a project led by Climate Change Solutions has discovered potential to erect one million solar panels in Coventry and a similar number in Warwickshire.
In an event in Coventry Council House at 19:30 on 21 June, the following speakers will discuss the project and explore the future potential.
- Brian Stevens Lead Business Delivery Manager CUE Business Solutions
- Tony McNally Managing Director Climate Change Solutions Ltd
- Daniella Parker Project Manager Solar for Schools & Schools Ambassador
- Dr Angeline’s Donastorg Sosa Renewable Energy & Energy Management Coventry University
Among other ideas they will explore energy efficiency, smart systems, storage and electric vehicle charge points, creating a cleaner, cheaper and fairer circular economy for all.
There is also the opportunity to integrate features of community energy systems, connecting clusters of buildings such as businesses, retail and industrial parks, hospitals, education campuses, housing associations and estates. This will provide economy of scale, and allow the electricity generated to be used on site, with minimum National Grid reliance, giving maximum financial benefits, including more new green jobs, business and innovation.
The Bright Solar Future Showcase Series is a collaborative project between Climate Change Solutions, Midlands Net Zero Hub, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and Nottingham City Council.
