Jaguar Land Rover
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is a British multinational automotive company with its headquarters in Whitley, Coventry. It is a subsidiary of Indian automotive company Tata Motors. The annual turnover of the company was over £24 billion in 2018/19 and they invest about £1 billion in research and development each year.
Their first all-electric vehicle is the I-PACE whose 90 kWh battery gives a range of 470 km (292 miles) on a full charge and costs upwards of £61,000 after allowing for the UK plug-in grant. At a typical commercial charging point rate of £0.30 per kWh, this is equivalent to a running cost of 9 pence per mile. It would be about half that if charging at home.
They also produce a plug-in hybrid Range Rover PHEV which contains both electric and combustion engines and can be charged from an external electricity source. These vehicles cost upwards of £72,000.
JLR is a partner in the National Automotive Innovation Centre at the University of Warwick.
